Your Family Portrait Questions Answered
How long is a family portrait session?
I allocate 2 hours of time in my booking calendar for your session. Most sessions will take about 1 hour of time or even less. I keep plenty time open so no one has to feel rushed. How long the session runs will depend if you plan on doing wardrobe changes and or how many pairings and groupings of family members you would like. I do not charge for extra studio time. If your children are under 10 I recommend keeping the session short - 45 minutes tops - since the patience of younger children tends to be limited.
How many family members can be in the photo?
I have a fairly small intimate studio. It can accommodate 5 adults well but more can become snug and difficult. More people can be more easily accommodated if some are small children that can be held or sat on laps of adults.
If you have more than 5 adults in your party I highly recommend contacting me to discuss your family size. I can arrange to conduct the shoot in a larger studio space if needed.
What should my family wear?
My images tend to have a more formal painterly quality. They are meant to depict you and your family at their best. How you would dress your family for a wedding? A holiday dinner? or any other formal event? Ties are not required but jackets are highly recommended for men.
How do I get started?
Get started by dropping a quick note below. Since all of my sessions are custom designed, its best if we talk on the phone about your specific vision and I go over how I typically do my sessions - what's involved, how long they typically take and of course pricing. If you are ready to move forward I can book you right there on phone or send you a link to my calendar to schedule a time that convenient for you.
A beautiful portrait is the closest thing to a time machine we have. It preserves you and your families legacy and provides a simple way to share that heritage for decades to come. Memories fade but the portrait that hangs on the wall can serve as the constant reminder of who your family once was and provide a greater perspective into what your family has become.

I am right next to the Thai Pepper and on the same block as the popular Evening Star Restaurant.
